As expectations grow for businesses to contribute more toward building a circular economy, the 2017 Annual Steward Meeting (ASM) will help stewards better understand and prepare for the future of stewardship and recycling.
The ASM, held on behalf of CSSA partner stewardship programs, will include a keynote by Ontario’s Environmental Commissioner, a packaging trends panel and will also update stewards on packaging and paper recycling program performance and next year’s budgets and fees. See the agenda summary below.
This year’s ASM will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, in Toronto (at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Toronto Airport and Conference Centre, 655 Dixon Road) and you are invited to attend in-person or via webcast:
Local Times for ASM:
British Columbia: 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. PDT
Saskatchewan: 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. CST
Manitoba: Noon – 3:30 p.m. CDT
Ontario: 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. EDT
For stewards attending in person, a light lunch will be available at 12:30 p.m.

Recycling in a Circular Economy: The Environmental Commissioner of Ontario, Dr. Dianne Saxe, will give a keynote address to stewards about the role of recycling in a circular economy and answer your big-picture questions.
Packaging Trends Discussion: The evolution, challenges and opportunities in packaging materials and how they will influence circular economy goals will be reviewed and debated by a panel of industry representatives.
Program Reviews and Fee Previews: Detailed program and financial performance reviews for Stewardship Ontario, MMSM, MMSW and Recycle BC will include information on 2018 budgets and fees.
Have Your Say: both online and in-person attendees will be invited to electronically respond to poll questions during the ASM.
