Automotive Materials Stewardship (AMS) was established in early 2016 to represent the interests of businesses in the automotive sector to create environmentally sustainable ways for consumers to recycle used automotive products.

The AMS Industry Stewardship Plan (ISP) launched on April 1, 2017. Following the introduction of Ontario’s Hazardous and Special Products (HSP) Regulation in June 2021, AMS completed the work to launch its Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) to assist producers in meeting their new responsibilities for recycling antifreeze, oil containers and oil filters.
